Uber is in the works to expand its audio recording feature to the Kenyan market. This is in a bid to improve safety of both drivers and passengers. The feature allows you to record trip audio and share it with Uber Support team in the event of a safety incident.
The feature was rolled out in Europe in 2021 with the feature already operational in South Africa. In the past drivers from cab-hailing applications have been accused of violence, sexual predation, attacks and of being thieves. Issues of drivers also picking up in different vehicles from the ones shown on the app.

For the protection of user data safety and privacy, the recording is encrypted before being stored on the phone and only Uber cacn access it. The feature is set up by tapping the sheild icon on the map. Recordings are done by opening your safety toolkit and using the start or stop buttons.
