Vivo V29 made its way to shelves in October 2023 despite being announced globally in July. It features subtle upgrades to its predecessor Vivo V27 making it definitely worth the upgrade. It for one is a 5G device so if your carrier supports the bandwidth this should be a consideration.

The chipset has been bumped to Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G(6 nm) from a Mediatek Dimensity 7200(4 nm) with an Adreno 642L GPU. The device will run on Android 13, Funtouch 13 skin. Vivo maintained the screen size at 6.78 inches but improved on its resolution to 1260 x 2800 pixels. This translates to a super sharpness of about 450 ppi density. Its display has a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The V29 has received an IP rating of IP68 and its great that the company is finally appreciating the use of this often looked over feature that is becoming common. V29 5G maintains its super sleek look with minimal change to its physical design. The vivo V29 inherits the V27’s camera system, for the most part. The rear setup contains a 50MP OIS primary and an 8MP ultrawide. While a 50MP front-facing camera is there for selfies. Gone is the 2MP macro camera on the back, replaced by a 2MP monochrome depth sensor.

With a battery capacity of 4600 mAh the battery is more than capable of handling tasks thrown at it if the V27 is any indication. The charging is now rated at 80W with Vivo claiming the device charges from 1-50% in 17 min. Boxed contents include a clear-view cover, charging brick and USB cable.

The phone is available in four colors; Space Black, Himalayan Blue, Purple Fairy, Majestic Red. The blue and purple variants have seemingly random waves and splashes of what looks like glitter underneath the surface that appears to move as you tilt the phone at different angles. The black and red colorways have their glitter uniformly spread out and their surface is frosted, as opposed to the glossy treatment of the other two models.
