Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Release Date, Specifications and what to expect

Samsung is currently the market leader in the foldable space. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be launched on July 26 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 as per Samsung reports at a Galaxy Unpacked event.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have a larger cover screen! Rumor has it that the screen will move from a 1.9-inch cover display to 3.4-inches. The previous diplay on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has limited functionality and it is believed that most of Samsung’s app will be optimised for use on the secondary display. Samsung is also working with Google to also optimise Google Maps, Messages and even Youtube

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 could get some welcome design improvements this year. The hinge and the crease on the device’s screen has been a concern in the past and Samsung has developed the hinge so that the crease is less visible. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the hinge used could be similar to that of the OPPO Find N2 Flip. This type of hinge would ensure minimal creasing while also reducing the gap in the middle when it is folded. It is also expected that the hinge could provide an official rating against dust which would be new to the Samsung foldable line.

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the following colors: Beige, Gray, Light Green, and Light Pink.

The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is expected to power the device. This is expected to improve performance without giving up the energy efficiency gains that made the Z Flip 4’s battery life so much better. Geekbench listing indicates that the phone has 8GB RAM similar to what was offered previously.
