Unboxing
First up, what do you actually get bundled in the box of Samsung Galaxy s22 5G? You get yourself one Galaxy s22 Plus 5G, one type C to type C USB cable, and one SIM ejector tool. Speaking of which, this is a Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Dual SIM (2 Nano-SIMs + eSIM, dual stand-by) smartphone. The 45W charging adapter as we all know of by now is sold separately. So be sure to include one with this purchase. Other than these, there is not anything else included but paper works.
Design
Samsung hasn’t really changed up the design too much for the s22 generation. At least aesthetically from a quick glance, you’d easily mistake this phone for the Galaxy S21, also 5G. Perhaps the flatter edges on this one might be considered one of the give-aways. And it also comes in a slightly different range of colors as well. These are Phantom Black, White, Pink Gold, Green, Graphite, Sky Blue, Violet, and Cream.

However, while it may not look any different, the actual materials used here are quite a highlight. Samsung has changed up quite considerably. What you’ve got now is Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the back and the front end giving it a more premium feel than previous generations. And Samsung has also added an Armour aluminum frame with tougher drop and scratch resistance (advertised). Also, the s22 5G is IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 mins). Besides this, you’ve got a very similar-looking camera module in the top corner.
Performance
The entire Samsung Galaxy s22 family is powered by a new chipset in the Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm). Other regions (outside the US) have the Exynos 2200 (4 nm). And Samsung is making big, bold claims when it comes to the chipsets here. You’ve got all kinds of crazy graphical features packed in here. If you are a gamer, the Galaxy S22 5G should certainly satisfy you.
And of course, this phone also gives you a good bit of 5G support as well. You’ve got Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e support on there as well. It is under the battery and device care section of the settings of Samsung Galaxy s22 Plus 5G that you’ll find the storage. The phone offers either 128GB 8GB RAM, or 256GB 8GB RAM.
Platform
What you have got running the Samsung Galaxy s22 5G is Android 12, One UI 4.1 launcher. One UI just brings the best of Android 12 here. For instance, the privacy features are present and correct. You can fast toggle the camera and microphone access for all apps. And when you load up an app that uses the camera or the mic, you’ll get a little indicator at the top corner. You’ve got great customization in one UI. For example, you change the wallpaper and everything as usual, but you’ll also see the new color palette option as well. This can actually change up the theme and colors based on the wallpaper you’ve got installed at the time.
Cameras
For the cameras what you’ve got on Samsung Galaxy s22 5G is an improved, upgraded 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS primary shooter. It’s good to see that OIS built an improvement in the hardware. One of its strengths is when taking photos in low light. Apparently, portrait mode works better with pets now as well. What Samsung claims is that the portrait mode of this phone is able even to distinguish hair(s) and apply that blur effect. Bold claim! The selfie is a 10 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/3.24″, 1.22µm, Dual Pixel PDAF shooter. Its results are reasonably natural skin tones and plenty of crisp detail.
Present also on this S22 5G phone is a 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55″ 1.4µm, Super Steady video shooter. This one does have somewhat of an impact on the natural tones that you get from that primary sensor. And last up, there’s a 10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.94″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom shooter. It has 3X optical zoom and built-in optical image stabilization. So if you wanna get closer to your subject, this will definitely do the job.

Finally, with this phone you can shoot videos with these qualities: [email protected], [email protected]/60fps, [email protected]/60/240fps, [email protected], HDR10+, stereo sound rec., gyro-EIS. That is with the main camera. With the selfie, [email protected]/60fps, [email protected]
Sound
What about the audio of the Samsung Galaxy s22 5G? As you would expect from a premium device, the Galaxy s22 5G sports a stereo speaker setup. It has got a top volume that’ll absolutely do the job. The quality’s pretty decent as well with reasonable clarity. Sadly, no headphone hack as usual. Plus you will have to rely on the Bluetooth 5.2 buds if you wanna get connected.
Security
As far as the security goes, you’ve got an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor here on the Samsung Galaxy s22 5G. It is absolutely fine, perfectly responsive, works alright. And it is backed up with face recognition as well. But hey, it doesn’t work if you are wearing a face mask. Again, Samsung’s Knox security features take all your sensitive information and isolate them so it can’t be directly attacked. These include your passwords, your biometric data, etc. This is to affirm that if security is a big issue for you, then Samsung is definitely among the best options along with the likes of the Google Pixel smartphones.
